When I say hormone, what comes to mind? A hormone is a chemical substance secreted into the blood stream to control or regulate certain cells or organs. An example is thyroid hormone. It is produced by the thyroid gland in your neck near your “Adam’s Apple”.
Not eating breakfast seems a simple way to reduce some calories, but the result may be insatiable hunger for the rest of the day. This can lead to a non-planned snack in the office, in huge portions for lunch and this as a result will increase the calories you consume. But a breakfast, which is rich in protein and fiber, can reduce hunger throughout the day. In fact, research shows that people who eat breakfast every morning are more likely to maintain normal weight.
How about being healthy in your later years? Do you really want to be battling diabetes and/or heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, or rheumatoid arthritis when you could be enjoying your life? Think about it, is there anything more important than your health? Your health impacts every phase of your life. Once your health deteriorates, everything else in your life deteriorates too. Suddenly your quality of life is compromised. You can no longer do many of the things you want to do.
Feeling tired is also your body’s way of telling you that you possess a weak stamina and you can’t handle extra pressure or weight. By exercising, you’re buffing yourself up and improving the amount of stress your body can handle. Not only that, exercise also enlivens your nervous system and speeds up the rate you produce energy.
A dinner here was nothing special, but it is a value for families. My recommendation is to eat at one of their outside tables, if the weather is cooperative, as its noisy inside. The tables in the dining room are clustered close together, and with the added bar and televisions with sports events, you cannot have a conversation here. Its always busy, whether you go during Smore, lunch, or dinner time. As like many other restaurants on the island, it runs on “Puerto Rican time.” You aren’t going to be greeted immediately, and you might just have to wait some time for a table. In that way, its a lot like Denny’s.
When you think fibre, you most likely think bowel regularity. Fibre also plays a key role in weight loss. Fibre is bulky so it keeps you feeling full eating breakfast longer and helps maintain your blood sugar level. Choose whole grains such as whole-wheat pastas and breads, brown rice, and cereals with at least four grams of fibre per serving. Load half of your plate with fibre-rich vegetables and include fruits with meals and snacks for extra fibre.
I’ll give you an example. Last week we lost one of our best clients because they filed for bankruptcy. I was really bummed for a little bit. But then I told myself: “You control your thoughts” and decided to start being happy again. It happened just like that. I don’t expect you to believe me because I didn’t believe this a few years ago. Instead, I want to invite you to try it. Next time you feel worried, sad, angry or anxious, make a conscious effort to let go and start feeling happy again. Notice what happens. The more you do it, the better you’ll get at it.
Learn how to handle stress better. Yoga and meditation exercises are great at helping you to reduce your stress. Exercise regularly to enhance your body’s ability to handle stress better as well. Stress can help you to retain water and makes it harder for many people to get rid of the extra fat. Stress reduction will help you succeed at fat reduction more easily.
