It has been suggested that the new-look Sydney FC might not have a new starting XI in 2018, as former midfielder Simon Goodwin is set to leave the club.
However, the news has not been confirmed by Sydney FC boss Simon Goodwin himself, as he only spoke to the media after the Sydney FC board had held a meeting to discuss the new season.
However it does mean that the Socceroos squad is still looking to improve.
The Socceroos have a roster that is almost entirely made up of players who played in the A-League last season, with four players currently playing in the second division in Brisbane, including goalkeeper Kasey Keller.
Goodwin told Australian media the team was still in the process of finalising a number of the players they have, with a number more expected to be added before the start of the 2018-19 season.
“It is a really good time to be here, and a really great time to have such a talented group of players and to work with the coach and the players,” Goodwin said.
“We’ve been working very hard and trying to make sure we have a great squad and that everyone has the opportunity to play.”
“We’re going to get back to work.
The last few days were great, so we’re looking forward to the next phase of the season.”
