Amazon is building a Bitcoin storefront in NYC, according to CNBC.
The Seattle-based online retailer said the store will be located on the ground floor of its New York City headquarters.
It will be a “local Bitcoin store,” with the goal of selling products and services for the cryptocurrency, CNBC reported.
Amazon is also offering a $5,000 bonus for Bitcoin users who purchase a $100 Amazon gift card, according the news outlet.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who was an early backer of Bitcoin, was the first person to invest in the currency.
The company’s stock has risen more than 100 percent in the past year, as it looks to expand its digital presence in ways not seen before.
In October, it bought digital news website The Verge for $970 million.
Amazon plans to expand digital sales into the US and Europe.
