How Public Speaking Skills Can Help You Craft Amazing Cover Letters

Imagine you are scheduled to say a few words in public in the very near future. You are probably nervous. Maybe you are even panicking. Possibly you are starting to think of how to skip this speech. Relax. You are one among millions who gets butterflies in stomach when asked to say few words in public. We do admire several people who possess this wonderful skill – public speaking and one of my favorites off late is the American President Barack Obama.

The problem most people have with books is that they think that they aren’t useful to them since after reading it you will forget it anyway. And that’s where so many people go wrong. You can’t just read a book you also have to apply the knowledge you gained through it.

There are a lot of training courses and books on the subject you could go on and read, but ultimately, it is practise that will make you a better speaker.

He captured world’s attention on 10th February 2008 through his famous speech announcing his candidature for the President ship given on the steps of the Old State Capitol in Illinois. The whole world watched his historic victory speech on 4th November 2008 when he became the 44th President-Elect. Obama’s speeches remind us the power of words but we know we may not be able to speak like him. Rather we may not even want to speak like Obama. But may be we can learn from the way Obama speaks in order to influence and inspire our audiences.

One-on-one apologies are fairly simple to do. However, when we’ve done something that has offended a larger group of people, then that’s when our presentaion skills are going to have to come into play and the true importance of public speaking is going to have to save the day.

Knowing the venue and being there early is half the battle. Try to get a feel of the place. Stand on the stage or where ever you are suppose to deliver your speech. Try to visualize your audience listening to your speech.

Instead of letting fear stop you, be a samurai. Take every step forward and never look back. Each presentation, resolve to never be stopped by your fear.

The biggest mistake most people make when setting out to get public speaking training is incorrectly assuming that joining public speaking clubs and associations or taking a night class will give then the skills to get the results they want. You need to be 100% clear about what results you’re hoping to get via public speaking. With that clarity, then you’ll need to look for professional public speaking trainings that can help you to reach those specific goals. Ask lots of questions so you can evaluate which public speaking training will actually be able to deliver the skills and abilities so you can reach your goals.
